La gestión sostenible de las turberas tropicales intactas es crucial para mitigar el cambio climático, para la conservación de la biodiversidad y para apoyar la subsistencia de las comunidades locales. En este trabajo se explora si la recolección sostenible de los frutos de las palmeras Mauritia flexuosa podría contribuir a estos objetivos vinculados, aumentando la producción de fruta y los ingresos en los 2,8 millones de hectáreas del ecosistema más denso en carbono de la Amazonia: las turberas de las tierras bajas del noreste de Perú.
