Main goal of this thesis was to first study the catalytic fast pyrolysis of lignocellulosic material and the properties of bio-oil from literature, and then analyse how the properties change when condensation temperature is increased in the first stage of a fractional condensation system. A literature review was conducted on catalytic fast pyrolysis that focused on the condensation and analysis methods of bio-oil. The literature review gave insight into the effects of reactor types, reaction parameters, catalysts, feed properties and condensation parameters to the resulting products.
