International audienceThis statement examines the recent growth of work in the field of geography of gender and sexuality in France. The author points that sexuality has become an area of new interest within social and cultural geography. The article criticizes the myth of gay liberation and suggests that we need to move away from a simple mapping of urban gay village, commercial scene and sexual space.
