History of Education in Mělnicko from 1869 to 1948/49

In this thesis I deal with the history of education in Mělnicko from 1869 to 1948 / 49. The thesis is based on archival materials of the District school board to Mělník. Because of large number of archival materials related to this period, only relevant information is shown. The first part is dedicated to the two personalities that are associated with Mělník, personalities who participated in the education of the nation. The first one is František Palacký, the second Josef Věnceslav Vlasák. Each is given a brief biography and an explanation why they were important to the development of education and training. The main part of the thesis deals with the individual handling through a period of District school board in Mělník between 1869-1948/49. Each perion is shown in statistics on the number of pupils, schools. Furthermore, information concerning teaching and discipline, schooling and teaching organization is provided.. In some periods there is a chapter dealing with the social status of pupils. Not all information and data is provided for each period of time.
