Aportes del inglés como lengua de comunicación internacional en el ámbito educativo y económico de la región andina

Introduction. International communication requires all those interactions between states, companies, institutions, and people, on the other hand, globalization has integrated the media, especially the Internet. Learning a new language is a fundamental requirement to work as an international communicator. Therefore, working in international settings, or in a place where people have a different vision and culture, implies knowledge and respect for others. The article is dedicated to the analysis of the use of English as a language of international communication. This problem is especially important because globalization is impossible without the presence of a language in which all people on the planet can communicate. Objective. Reviewing English are its linguistic characteristics, revealing the economic and educational context in the countries that make up Latin America as an international language. Methodology. The field of science and higher education constitutes a strategic space where the problems of the globalization of English as the only hyper-central language are clearly reflected: From a restricted multilingual model of a few languages, German, French and English that expressed the scientific field a century ago, we have moved towards an almost absolute predominance of English. Results. From a Latin American perspective, three compelling reasons stand out that should drive us to use various foreign languages. This text will analyze the biased nature of studies on the distribution of languages ​​in indexed publications when they are taken as representative of the scientific field. Conclusions: One of the characteristics of modern English is its variability. Well, this does not have a single standard, and those who are going to learn this language must decide for themselves which of its variants they will learn: British, American, Australian, Canadian, etc. An alternative to achieve a complete proficiency in the English language is to conceive the space of sciences and higher education, structured as a sociological and communicational field that integrates the spheres of production, circulation, and training. English has official or semi-official language status in sixty-two countries around the world and is considered the language of international communication by 97% of the world's population.Introducción. La comunicación internacional requiere de todas aquellas interacciones entre estados, empresas, instituciones y personas, por otra parte, la globalización ha integrado a los medios de comunicación, en especial de Internet. Aprender un nuevo idioma es un requisito fundamental para trabajar como comunicador internacional. Por ello, laborar en escenarios internacionales, o en un lugar en donde la gente tiene una visión y cultura diferente implica el conocimiento y el respeto a los demás. El artículo está dedicado al análisis del uso del inglés como idioma de comunicación internacional. Este problema es especialmente importante debido a que la globalización es imposible sin la presencia de un lenguaje en el que todas las personas del planeta puedan comunicarse. Objetivo. Reseñar el inglés son sus características lingüísticas, revelando el contexto económico y educativo en los países que conforman América Latina como lengua internacional. Metodología. El campo de las ciencias y la educación superior constituye un espacio estratégico donde se reflejan con gran nitidez los problemas de la globalización del inglés como única lengua híper-central: De un modelo plurilingüe restringido de unas pocas lenguas, el alemán, francés e inglés que expresaban el campo científico hace un siglo, hemos transitado hacia un predominio casi absoluto del inglés. Resultados. Desde una perspectiva latinoamericana, destacan tres razones de peso que nos deberían impulsar el uso de varias lenguas extranjeras. En este texto se analizará el carácter sesgado de los estudios sobre la distribución de las lenguas en las publicaciones indexadas cuando éstas se toman como representativas del campo científico. Conclusiones: Una de las características del inglés moderno es su variabilidad. Pues éste no posee un estándar único, y quienes van a aprender este idioma deben decidir por sí mismos cuál de sus variantes aprenderán: británico, americano, australiano, canadiense, etc. Una alternativa para lograr un dominio completo del idioma inglés es concebir el espacio de las ciencias y la educación superior en su conjunto, estructurado como campo sociológico y comunicacional que integra las esferas de la producción, circulación y formación.
