In the field of space commerce, most of the Western Pacific Rim region is still characterized by its market potential for outside, especially Western, players. Japan and the People\u27s Republic of China (PRC) represent significant markets due to their population size and economic strength. Their existing launch programs pose significant commercial threats to the US. The PRC is currently the most competitive, but concerns about Long March reliability may cancel out price advantages, while the Japanese are positioning themselves for greater prominence. The old stereotype of the region as strictly a marketing opportunity is no longer accurate although their desires outrun performance at this point
