Mode-locked operation of wavelength tunable Cr3+ doped LiSrAlF6 (Cr:LiSAF) and LiSr0.8Ca0.2AlF6 (Cr:LiSCAF) lasers at a repetition frequency of 82 MHz has been achieved by optical pumping with a cw krypton laser. An acousto-optic modelocker was used to initiate the pulse formation and pulses of 150fs duration were directly produced from both lasers when an intra-cavity two prism sequenced was incorporated for cavity dispersion compensation
