Movilidad forzada y territorios de espera. Relatos de inmigrantes haitianos en la frontera México-EE. UU.

The objective of this work is to identify and interpret the elements that characterize the forced migration experienced by Haitians who arrived between 2016 and 2017 at the border between Mexico and the United States, as well as to review the most relevant opportunities and challenges presented during the waiting process and the appropriation of the new space. Based on twenty semi-structured interviews, life stories were analyzed around: 1) mobility and uprooting and 2) waiting and appropriation of the new space. The following were identified as causes of the Haitian forced mobility processes of the last decade: political instability and ungovernability, violence by the State and criminal gangs, extreme poverty, and natural disasters. Likewise, the experiences of forced mobility triggered emotional states such as fear, nostalgia, pride, and humiliation. The wait has given meaning not only to the space, but also to these people and to the ascription groups that find themselves in this situation, in which time has been suspended, for which the resignification of the border as a waiting territory has emerged. The appropriation of the border as a new temporary living space has had important implications for the identities of Haitian immigrants.El objetivo de este trabajo es identificar e interpretar los elementos que caracterizan la mi- gración forzada vivida por haitianos que llegaron entre 2016 y 2017 a la frontera México-EE. UU., y revisar las oportunidades y los retos más relevantes presentados durante el proceso de espera y apropiación del nuevo espacio. Con base en veinte entrevistas semiestructuradas, se analizaron los relatos de vida en torno a: 1) movilidad y desarraigo y 2) espera y apropiación del nuevo espacio. Se identificaron como causas de los procesos de movilidad forzada haitiana de la última década: la inestabilidad e ingobernabilidad política, la violencia del Estado y de las bandas criminales, la pobreza extrema y los desastres naturales. Asimismo, las experiencias de movilidad forzada desencadenaron estados emocionales como miedo, nostalgia, orgullo y humillación. La espera ha dado sentido no sólo al espacio, sino también a estas personas y a sus grupos de adscripción que se encuentran en esta situación, donde el tiempo ha quedado suspendido, de ahí ha emergido la resignificación de la frontera como territorio de espera. La apropiación de la frontera como nuevo espacio de vida temporal ha tenido importantes implicaciones en las identidades de los inmigrantes haitianos
