Millions of people are forced to leave their homes each year, to flee difficult conditions and in search for a better life. There has been an increase in the number of children and youths seeking refuge in Iceland over the past decades. Social support and language proficiency are essential to young refugees’ well-being, and help them adapt to the host country, which can often be challenging. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the importance of friendships and school participation on perceived social support and language proficiency of children and youths who seek asylum in Iceland.
