In Rome and throughout the provinces of the Imperium Romanum, the emperor was omnipresent. Even if only few of the Roman rulers actually visited the different parts of their empire more frequently, the population was well familiar with their name and image. The dissertation (finished in 2015) dealt with questions concerning the form of imperial representation in various public media and the dynamics of communication and dissemination between Rome and the Roman provinces from Augustan times to the end of the Severan dynasty (31 v. Chr. – 235 n. Chr.)
