In the 16th century the Florentine writer Agnolo Firenzuola published Dialogo delle bellezze delle donne, a work considered one of the most important treatises on feminine beauty of Renaissance by some scholars; Elizabeth Cropper (1976) describes it in fact as a complete exposition of feminine ideal beauty between the multiple treatises written at the time on the subject. However, some years after the publication of this work, the author himself published the chapter “Sopra le bellezze della sua innamorata” included in the collective work Le opere burlesche (1548) in which he breaks in some way with the ideas initially presented in his treatise.
