International audienceCryptic genetic species of planktonic Foraminifera often exhibit narrower biogeographic distributions and eco- logical preferences than the respective morphospecies. In theory, it should therefore be possible to improve the resolution of the paleoceanographic reconstructions based on sediment assemblages of these species.
