Are touch pad more suitable than traditional tools for developing the socio-communicative and adaptive skills of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder : longitudinal studies, with micro-analysis of behavior and eye-tracking

Dans un contexte où l’offre apportée par la technologie numérique est de plus en plus importante et diversifiée auprès du public avec TSA, la demande des usagers et des aidants à des fins d’accompagnement est de plus en plus grande. Une première étude longitudinale a ainsi pour objectif de tester l'effet d’interventions prenant appui sur l'outil numérique (doté d’applications adaptées au public avec TSA, Amikeo Société Auticiel ®) comparativement à celles ayant recours à des outils traditionnels sur les compétences socio-communicatives et adaptatives de 22 enfants avec TSA et TDI associé répartis en 2 groupes (outil numérique versus traditionnel). Au terme d'une année de travail, les résultats montrent que les enfants ayant bénéficié de l’outil numérique ont des scores significativement plus élevés que ceux ayant bénéficié de l’outil traditionnel. La qualité de l’outil numérique, mesurée à l’aide d’un outil d’évaluation que nous proposons (l’AutismGuide), semble entretenir des liens avec l’évolution des performances des enfants. Dans une seconde étude transversale menée auprès de 44 enfants avec TSA et TDI associé, l’effet d’une application (Logiral TM) permettant de ralentir des scènes visuelles, a été mesuré sur les comportements, l’exploration visuelle et la compréhension des enfants, à l’aide d’une micro-analyse comportementale et de mesures oculométriques. Nous observons une diminution significative des comportements inadaptés lors de la présentation ralentie des scènes animées, une amélioration de la compréhension du contenu contextuel mais pas du contenu émotionnel des scènes, sans pour autant obtenir une amélioration des patterns d’exploration visuelle.In the current context where the offer of digital technology for people with ASD is increasingly growing and getting more diverse, the demand from the users and their caregivers is growing. The aim of this first longitudinal is to test the effects of interventions using digital tools (applications for children with ASD, Amikeo Auticiel®) in comparison of interventions using traditional tools on socio-communicative and adaptive skills of 22 children with mild to severe ASD, associated with intellectual development disorder separated into two groups (digital tools and traditional tools). After a year of work, results show that children with ASD from the group using the digital technology had significantly higher score than children with ADS from the group using traditional tools. The quality of the digital tool assessed using an assessment tool that we offer (AutismGuide), seems to have links with the children's skills. Furthermore, in a second study with 44 children with ASD and intellectual development disorder, the effect of an application (Logiral TM) allowed to slow visual scenes, was assessed on the behaviours, the visual exploration and the understanding of these children, using a behavioural micro-analysis and oculometric measurements. Results show a significant decline of maladaptive behaviours when the visual scenes are slowed, an increase of the ability to understand questions about the contextual content, but not the emotional content of the visual scenes. No improvement was found on the visual exploration patterns
