A kulturális örökségvédelem kérdései és sajátosságai Magyarországon és Nagy-Britanniában

My research focuses on the protection of cultural heritage in Hungary and in Great Britain. The protection of cultural heritages means the safeguarding of roots and traditions of a given cummunity. Every community and every state have to protect, preserve and hand these values for the futher genertions. Since both countries are European states and members of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), which is the leading international organization in the field of the protection of cultural heritage, I introduce the main role of the European Union and the UNESCO in the process of protection. I show the importance of the international conventions created by the UNESCO and I demonstrate the possibilities and legal frameworks, which make cultural property protected in international and national level, as well. Regarding, that Hungary and Great Britain has different historical development, they have different aims to protect their heritage sites and cultural properties, including different methods and legal instruments. Furthermore, Hungary is a member state in the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, while Great Britain has not yet joined. On the other hand, the society in the latter state not just a more active participant, but by the season ticket system they are more interested and more motivated in the maintenance of the cultural heritage in whole Great Britain. Over the similarities and differences in the protecion between the two examined states, my research ends with a presentation of two ’best practices’. Audley End and the story and current practice of the preservation of the bobbin lace tradition from Balatonendréd in local education are excellent examples of how to defend, preserve and promote a cultural element at the same time, by made it accessible for the local communities and taking care of it’s maintenance
