This paper takes as its starting point the recent development of well-written American television series that explore crucial social and political themes in an often naturalistic way, to show how this particular narrative form discusses, or undermines, the political, social and economic order of western societies. These series use specific narratives and techniques to dramatize figures and social conflicts that are often neglected by fiction, and provide a topography of future possibilities and impossibilities to organize and impose how the viewer receives them.
