Years and years : temps et politisation

International audienceIn turns dystopia and utopia, Years and Years is a social science fiction show which examines the links between time and politicization. Its projection into the future is accelerated by the rapid passage of history broadcast by media summaries of the main events that upset the social, political, economic and technological processes of the diegetic world. Along the way, the characters become politicized in the sense that they enter or experience politics.This text examines how, in the diegesis, the process of politicisation is discussed through seriality and the accelerated staging of social temporalities, and how these temporal arrangements make political proposals for anticipating the near future, including the various uses of digital technologies.Entre dystopie et utopie, Years and Years est une série TV d’anticipation qui examine les liens entre temps et politisation. Sa projection vers le futur se déroule de manière accélérée par le rapide passage de l’histoire mis en scène dans des résumés médiatiques relatant les principaux événements qui bouleversent les processus sociaux, politiques, économiques et technologiques du monde diégétique. Sur ce chemin, les personnages se politisent au sens où ils font leur entrée en politique ou en font l’expérience.Ce texte interroge la façon dont, dans la diégèse, le processus de politisation est mis en discussion par la sérialité et les mises en scènes accélérées des temporalités sociales, et comment ces agencements temporels font des propositions politiques d’anticipation du futur proche, y compris autour des usages des technologies numériques
