Wprowadzenie i cel pracy. Zespół niespokojnych nóg (ang. restless legs syndrome, RLS) to choroba neurologiczna polegająca na obecności nieprzyjemnych wrażeń czuciowych w obrębie kończyn dolnych i w konsekwencji na niepohamowanej potrzebie poruszania nimi, szczególnie podczas spoczynku. Aktywność ruchowa powoduje częściowe złagodzenie dolegliwości lub zupełne ich ustąpienie. Częstość występowania choroby w populacji ogólnej ocenia się na 2,5–15,0%. Objawy RLS wywołują u większości chorych trudności z zaśnięciem i utrzymaniem snu, prowadząc do przewlekłego zmęczenia, a w konsekwencji do obniżenia jakości życia.
