The article deals with the borders in the Americas from the end of the 20th to the first decades of the 21st century against a larger historical background. It invites to understand borders as a result of socially constructed processes of bordering and differentiation, namely the simultaneous processes of debordering, rebordering, and border securitization after 2001.
