A difficult financial situation, which resulted from high unemployment, was the main problem that the society of the Wieluń district had to face, after Poland regained its independence. This resulted in a tremendous increase of seasonal emigration to Western European countries for working purposes. The working population lost their contact with the Catholic faith there. In order to provide care for the religious life of emigrant diocese members, Bishop Teodor Kubina established “The Association of Polish Emigrants under the care of the Queen of the Polish Crown in the diocese of Częstochowa” whose goal was to unite seasonal workers, raise their level of morality and strengthen their patriotic attitudes.
