Robots in Autism Spectrum Disorder Therapy

Zaburzenia ze spektrum autyzmu (ASD) przejawiają się poprzez trudności behawioralne, poznawcze i społeczne, których występowanie jest mocno zróżnicowane pod względem na-tężenia i częstotliwości. Nieustający wzrost wiedzy na temat uwarunkowań zaburzeń autystycznych oraz odkrycia patomechanizmów leżących u podłoża obserwowanych objawów ujawniających się w trakcie postnatalnego rozwoju skłania równocześnie do poszukiwania nowych propozycji terapeutycznych. Współczesne propozycje wspierania rozwoju i terapii osób z ASD coraz częściej korzystają ze zdobyczy zaawansowanej techniki, wykorzystując różne formy tak zwanej technologii wspierającej (assistive technology). Najbardziej zaawansowaną z nich jest zastosowanie wielofunkcyjnych robotów. W artykule dokonano przeglądu współczesnych wyników badań poświęconych efektywności stosowania robotów w terapii zaburzeń ze spektrum autyzmu pod kątem odpowiedzi na następujące pytania: 1. Jakie aspekty rozwoju osób z ASD mogą być stymulowane poprzez wykorzystanie robotów? 2. Jakie cechy robotów są istotne dla poprawy funkcjonowania osób z ASD?Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) symptoms manifest as behavioural, cognitive, and social difficulties, the occurrence of which is very differentiated depending on their intensity and frequency. The constant increasein knowledge about the determinants of autism and the discovery of pathomechanisms, underlying symptoms present during postnatal development, leads to the search for new therapeutic proposals. Current suggestions for aiding the development and therapy of individuals with ASD increasingly benefit from achievements in advanced techniques, using various forms of assistive technology. The most advanced approach is the use of multifunctional robots. The article reviews the results of current studies on the effectiveness of the use of robotic therapy in autism spectrum disorders in light of the following questions: 1. What developmental aspects of individuals with ASD can be stimulated by the use of robots? 2. What robotic characteristics are important for the functional improvement of individuals with ASD
