Catechist in a contemporary school

The article covers the scientific reflection upon the catechist participation in realizing the educational and pedagogical tasks by school. The reflection has been based on the instructions included in obligatory school documents. It was noted that in searching for the specification of tasks that catechists face up one should pay attention to the children’s lacks and needs that impede their integral development. In their context, both the content of religious nature transferred by catechists and the motifs of activities that serve the development and growth of a person supported by them seem to be meaningful. Further, one can discuss the characteristic shape of school catechesis supporting integral development of a person which is also called formation. In these processes the functions of catechesis perform an important role. They comprise the function of introducing into mystery, teaching and upbringing. It has been shown that these functions are the value added to the educational processes, first of all, because of the fact that they open person for Transcendence. These advantages of catechesis allow indicating the particular meaning for development of a person present at school catechesis. Thanks to these advantages catechist is able to support pupil in discovering new dimensions of sense of life.W artykule podjęto naukową refleksję nad udziałem katechety w wypełnianiu przez szkołę edukacyjno-wychowawczych zadań. Refleksję tę oparto na wytycznych zawartych w obowiązujących dokumentach szkolnych. Zauważono, że w poszukiwaniach specyfiki zadań stojących przed katechetą warto zwrócić uwagę na występujące u uczniów deficyty i potrzeby utrudniające ich integralny rozwój. W ich kontekście znaczące wydają się być przekazywane przez katechetę treści natury religijnej oraz wspomagane nimi motywy podejmowania służących rozwojowi i dojrzewaniu osoby działań. Idąc tym tokiem rozumowania można mówić o charakterystycznym rysie katechezy szkolnej, wspierającym integralny rozwój osoby, nazywany też formacją. W procesach tych ważną do spełnienia rolę nadaje się funkcjom katechezy: wtajemniczenia, nauczania i wychowania. Wykazano, że funkcje te stanowią wartość dodaną do procesów edukacyjnych przede wszystkim przez to, że otwierają osobę na Transcendencję. Te walory katechezy pozwalają też wskazać na szczególne znaczenie dla rozwoju osoby obecnego w szkole katechety. Dzięki tym walorom katecheta jest też w stanie wspomagać ucznia w odkrywania nowych wymiarów sensu życia
