Con el final de la Guerra Civil española y la toma del poder por parte de Francisco Franco, fueron muchos los afectados por la Segunda República que acabaron en centros de reclusión. Esto provocó el colapso de las cárceles, las prisiones y la creación de campos de concentración. Debido a esto, el nuevo Estado concedió a la Iglesia Católica todo lo relacionado con el disciplinamiento de los centros penitenciarios, con la creación de la Junta Central de Redención de Penas por el Trabajo, hasta la influencia en la Ley de Responsabilidades Políticas, con el fin de construir desde allí nuevos hombres y mujeres franquistas funcionales al Régimen.With the end of the Spanish Civil War and the seizure of power by Francisco Franco, there were many people affected by the Second Republic who ended up in confinement centers.
