Effect of illumination during the in vitro multiplication of Limonium sinuatum

[SPA] La luz realiza una función importante durante la fase de multiplicación en el cultivo in vitro de Limonium sinuatum. La intensidad lumínica afecta al crecimiento, a la tasa de multiplicación y a la concentración de pigmentos de las plantas. Este trabajo presenta los resultados del comportamiento de cuatro variedades de L. sinuatum de diferentes colores, SN8946, SN9013, SN9000 y SN9001, subcultivadas en medio Murashige y Skoog (MS) suplementado con N6-benziladenina (BA) en tres tratamientos de iluminación. Se midió para cada uno de ellos la radiación fotosintéticamente activa (PAR), cuantificando el flujo de fotones fotosintéticamente activos (FFF). Entre las determinaciones realizadas, se tomaron medidas del crecimiento de las plantas y de la tasa de propagación. También se midió la producción y la longitud del tallo durante la fase de cultivo en invernadero. La disminución de la distancia entre el foco emisor de luz y las plantas no tuvo ningún efecto negativo sobre estas. Así que, la reducción de la distancia entre bandejas dentro de una cámara de cultivo in vitro, llevaría a un mejor aprovechamiento de esta, aumentando la superficie útil, y por tanto, elevando el número de plantas que cabrían en ella, sin perjudicar la calidad de las mismas. [ENG] Light plays an important role during the multiplication phase in the in vitro culture of Limonium sinuatum. Light intensity affects growth, multiplication rate and concentration of pigments in plants. This work presents the behavioural results of four L. sinuatum varieties of different colours, SN8946, SN9013, SN9000 and SN9001, subcultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with N6 -benzyladenine (BA), and subjected to three light treatments. The incident photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) was measured for each of them, and the flow of photosynthetically active photons (PPF). Among the determinations made, measurements of plant growth and propagation rate were taken. Production and stem length were also measured during the greenhouse phase. The decrease in the distance between the light source and the plants did not have any negative effect on them. Thus, the reduction of the distance between trays within an in vitro culture chamber would lead to a better utilization of this, increasing the useful surface, and therefore, increasing the number of plants that would fit in it, without impairing the quality of the same.Este trabajo está siendo apoyado y financiado por la empresa Barberet & Blanc, S.A.
