Overall objective: Development of strategies for the exploitation of lignocellulosic materials and macroalgaes, following the biorefinery concept. Specific objective: • Collecting, preparation and characterization of the raw materials: a second-generation biomass (Paulownia wood) and a third-generation biomass (Sargassum muticum). • Study of sustainable fractionation using conventional-heating autohydrolysis and microwave-assisted autohydrolysis, and their combination with a second fractionation stage (another hydrothermal treatment or organosolv delignification) with the aim of high polysaccharide recovery from the raw materials. • Evaluation of the pretreatment effect on the enzymatic saccharification of both raw materials. • Eval...
