We use both seismic and infrasound monitoring to quantify both the ground vibrations associated with the passing flow and detect the passage of low frequency atmospheric sound waves associated with these mudflows, respectively. The time-lapse cameras can be used to verify lahar passages and channel responses as these flows move downstream, and correlate stage height with flow behaviors observed in the infrasonic signals. With the data collected over this field campaign, we hope to quantify flow parameters such as velocities, stage height, and the frequency of these rain-triggered mudflows.
