In the recent years, myxobacteria have emerged as a novel source of natural compounds with structural diversity and biological activity for drug discovery. In this work, the two myxobacterial compounds archazolid and vioprolide were characterized for their potential pharmacological effects in vascular endothelial cells. Archazolid is a wellestablished v-ATPase inhibitor found in Archangium gephyra and Cystobacter spec. As the v-ATPase represents a promising target in cancer treatment, the effects of archazolid have been intensively studied in cancer cells, but rarely in endothelial cells.
