Computer arithmetic is a branch of computer science dedicated to number systems, arithmetic algorithms and their hardware and software implementations. This thesis deals with the study and hardware implementation of operators for the evaluation of functions in digital signal and image processing. Different types of operators are presented: a division optimized operators generator, some studies about a function evaluation algorithm using fractional approximations, and functions evaluation operators based on polynomial approximations and requiring few hardware resources.
