At the beginning of this surah Allah says: O Muhammad (peace be upon him) get up for prayer at night but not all night. Subtract half or a little of it. And read the Qur'an slowly and clearly. The midnight and later prayers are technically called tahajjud. God prepared Muhammad (pbuh) for an important revelation and a heavy responsibility for him and then for the Muslim community. What better time than night to meditate, pray and praise, when there is silence and silence, without the noise and disturbance of traffic and markets.
