عقیدہ نبوت اور سر سید احمد خان کے نظریات: Prophethood Belief and Sir Sayyed Ahhmad Khan’s Religious Thought

Sir Sayyad Ahmed Khan is considered to be a revolutionary personality and versatile in the Muslim history of Sub-Continent. In his services Ali Garh Educational Institution is top of the list. After the conquest of British Empire on Subcontinent, the Indian Muslims were in pathetical condition.They were being considered as potential threat for British rule, so he wrote “the Causes of Indian Revolt” in 1859 and “the Loyal Mahammedens of India” in 1860 to counteract the hostile and anti-Muslim attitude of British Empire. Sir Sayyed visited to England in 1869۔ This interaction with the West and modern thoughts changed his vision to re-interpretate the whole religious and cultural heritage of Islam. He started to publish the journel “Tehzeeb ul Akhlaq” in 1870 and tried to effect a religious reformation in the Muslim world.He rejected the tradional concepts of Prophet Hood. According to him there is no qualitative difference between revelation and reason and there was no middle angel or intermediary sourse between the Prophet SAW and God.Angels do not exist and Hazrat Gabriel was a symbol of prophetic faculty.Revelation comes out from inside. Prophetic faculty is present in all men though it may be low or high in degree. Prophet Hood is special natural faculty which blooms itself like other faculties on at appropriate time.His philosophical interpretations created an apologetic approach in the Muslims .A new cycle of deviation and resucant sects started after his revival movement. In this article, some of his distinguish religious re-interpretations about Prophet Hood, its reasons and effects are being discussed
