Suicide in Ancient Greece is the t way of death of popular figures, real or fictitious. Demosthenes, Socrates, Epicurus or Ajax, Codros, Evadnea have the dubious honour to share the same way of dying, as they are at the origin of their own death. However, when we examine suicide and its types it takes in ancient sources, we observe how differently they are perceived. Sometimes rejected, sometimes admired, this way of dying is morally and legally condemned during archaic and classical times. However, from the end of classical times and during the Hellenistic era, it appears as a model of positive death as it depends on a philosophical model that imposes itself by this time.
