La educación física y el deporte como medios para adquirir y desarrollar valores en el nivel de primaria

The loss of values is one of the main leading sources of negative conducts in children and young people. This phenomenon is attributed partially to the fact that fundamental social values are not taught nor promoted neither in the family or the school, nor in means where these people are developed. Hence the interest to analyze the potential of basic and physical education and sports, as means to support and promote the development of positive social values, besides that its presence in the national educative system contributes to the development of the character, the personality, and the way of thinking and acting of the person. The article proposes that the components of the Program of Physical Education facilitate education and the promotion of values like the tolerance and the identity, among others. It is concluded that physical education, by means of the playful recreational and sport activities, provides spaces to foment habits and values that fortify the will to reach better physical health, psycho-social balance and, therefore, a suitable quality of life.La pérdida de valores es uno de los principales desencadenantes de conductas negativas en niñas, niños y jóvenes. Este fenómeno se atribuye en parte, a que valores sociales primordiales no se enseñan ni promueven en la familia, la escuela ni en el medio donde se desenvuelven estas personas. De ahí el interés de analizar el potencial que tiene en la educación básica la educación física y el deporte, como medios para apoyar y promover el desarrollo de valores sociales positivos; además, de que su presencia en el sistema educativo nacional contribuye al desarrollo del carácter, la personalidad, y la forma de pensar y actuar la persona. El artículo propone que los componentes del Programa de Educación Física permiten la enseñanza y el fomento de valores como la tolerancia y la identidad, entre otros. Se concluye que la educación física, por medio de las actividades líºdicas, recreativas y deportivas proporciona espacios para fomentar hábitos y valores que fortalecen la voluntad para alcanzar una mejor salud física, equilibrio psicosocial y, por consiguiente, una adecuada calidad de vida
