The post-verbal negatives and double negatives in the speech of Fortaleza-CE: a sociolinguistic protograph

This work approache the use of sentential negatives, specifically, the innovative, double negative and post-verbal variants, in the Fortaleza-CE speech. The objective is verify which variant is most productive in our sample and also to analyze which linguistic and/or extralinguistic factors positively influence (or not) the use of the post-verbal negative. For this, we use the theoretical-methodological contribution of Variationist Sociolinguistics (WEINREICH; LABOV; HERZOG, 2006; LABOV, 2008). The sample analyzed in this study consists of 53 informants from the database of the Norma Oral Project of the Popular Portuguese of Fortaleza (NORPOFOR). The results indicate that double negatives tend to be more used (70.6%) than the post-verbal negatives (29.4%). Positive verbal negatives were chosen in the following order of relevance: type of subject (non-existent and implicit), type of sentence (subordinate and coordinated), other negative terms (presence), type of phrase (response and question), gender (male), schooling (9 to 11 years) and structure of the verb (simple).Este trabalho aborda o uso das negativas sentenciais, especificamente, as variantes inovadoras, negativas duplas e pós-verbais, no falar de Fortaleza – CE. O objetivo é verificar qual variante é mais produtiva na nossa amostra e também analisar quais fatores linguísticos e/ou extralinguísticos influenciam positivamente (ou não) o uso da negativa pós-verbal. Para isso, servimo-nos do aporte teórico-metodológico da Sociolinguística Variacionista (WEINREICH; LABOV; HERZOG, 2006; LABOV, 2008). A amostra analisada, neste estudo, é constituída por 53 informantes oriundos do banco de dados do projeto Norma Oral do Português Popular de Fortaleza (NORPOFOR). Os resultados indicam que as negativas duplas tendem a ser mais usadas (70,6%) do que as negativas pós-verbais (29,4%). Foram eleitos como fatores favorecedores das negativas pós-verbais, na seguinte ordem de relevância: tipo de sujeito (inexistente e implícito), tipo de oração (subordinada e coordenada), outros termos negativos (presença), tipo de frase (resposta e pergunta), sexo (masculino), escolaridade (9 a 11 anos) e estrutura do verbo (simples)
