In this paper, a high power factor rectifier based on boost topology without current control loop is studied. It uses two active switches that operate complementarily, and it is designed to have one inductor in continuous conduction mode, and the other in discontinuous conduction mode. This arrangement produce an input current that follows the grid voltage waveform without the need of a current control loop, achieving high power factor and low total harmonic distortion of the current drawn from the grid. A frequency-modulation control strategy ensures output voltage regulation under load variations.
