The primary objective of this study is to distinguish trophics groups of Bluefin Tuna (Thunnus thynnus) during migration to the Mediterranean across the Strait of Gibraltar, knowing its source by using trophics marker fatty acids and proving its usefulness in the heart and fatty tissues.The method is based on the observation that some fatty acids can be transferred conservatively from marine primary producers by means of zooplankton to secondary consumers and top predators.Fatty acids have been used as qualitative markers to trace or confirm predator-prey relationships in the marine environment for over thirty years.
