The variety in instrumental media is paralleled by a variety in musical genre. The point of variety can be taken one step further in the representation of different national schools of composition and stylistic eras. Half of this recital program consists of two concertos. The first of these by Antonio Vivaldi, represents the Italian Baroque style of instrument composition. The second concerto, written in 1950 by Alexander Arutunian, is unlike its Baroque prototype in that it cannot be separated into three distinct movements. (See more in text)..
