Graduate recital in trumpet

Includes recorded audio files in WAV and MP3 formats, 47:53 in length.Four major aims or purposes have been kept in mind while preparing this graduate recital. There has been, firstly, an effort to show the trumpet in a number of different performing situations. The trumpet is to be found as a solo instrument with both organ and piano accompaniment. Also in this recital, the trumpet can be heard in a large group, a brass septet, and in a trio situation consisting of trumpet, bassoon, and piano. Secondly, there has been a definite striving for diversity in programing. There are works for D-trumpet and organ, a brass septet, solo trumpet and piano, and finally, trumpet, bassoon, and piano. There is of course, in the third case, an effort to display the many aspects of the trumpet itself. The use of the upper register is shown in the ???clarion??? works of Purcell and Torelli, and the technique of the trumpet is demonstrated in the work of Barat, in which the tone and range of the instrument are also quite evident. Of great importance is the lyricism and beautiful tone quality which can be displayed on the trumpet, and this is why the Sarabande from the Sonate by Hubeau has been chosen. Finally, the trumpet as a member of a group is demonstrated in the works of Handel and Hindemith. Fourthly, the ability of the performer is displayed through the works of the recital.
