Graduate recital in percussion

Includes recorded audio files in WAV and MP3 formats, 49:42 in length.In selecting and preparing material for this recital, the performer has made an effort to use those selections which demonstrate the musical capabilities and versatility of the percussion instruments. Suite No. 1, written for the marimba, is a three movement composition which makes full use of the range of the instrument. The first and third movements, in bright and changing meters, utilize angular melodic construction while the second movement; expresses a change of mood with its chordal sonorities. The third movement is the most technically demanding due to the consistent use of contrary motion in the simultaneous melodic lines. The French Suite is a multiple p-percussion selection, which, although contemporary in application, utilizes the forms of the Baroque era. (The first and second movements are in binary form; the third uses a motive with variations; the forth is in rondo form).
