American history from a Black perspective. These courses (AFRAS 170-A and 170-B) satisfy the graduation requirement in American Institutions. AFRAS 170-A explores the political, economic, and social history of people of African descent from the early Colonial period to the end of the Civil War. Emphasis will be placed on the role played by Black people in the foundation and development of America
