Report on the Treatment of Paragonimiasis in Nagasaki Prefecture

For the treatment of Paragonimus infection various compounds have been used, most of which are not too effective. There is no satisfactory treatment. Some considerations were given to the results of treatment for paragonimiasis of thirty one cases treated after World War II in Nagasaki Prefecture. Dosage and methods of use of drugs was considered. For the treatment of this disease, is it most desirable to use emetine hydrochloride with antimony derivatives and sulfonamide derivatives as soon as the detection of paragonimiasis, and to continue the treatment for a good while after disappearance of eggs of Paragonimus westermani in the sputum of patient
