My article deals with the actors of the period who, despite the storms of history, kept their Hungarian nationality and Reformed religion. They not only held on, but they did everything they could to strengthen the faith and national consciousness of those Hungarians who were forced to live in the new country. With theoretical and an effective practical work they built an independent church and institutional network for Hungarians in Slovakia, which helped the community to resist state assimilation efforts.
