Self-consolidating concrete (SCC) is an important emerging material that can be used for many applications related to transportation infrastructure. SCC has an advantage over conventional concrete in that it can be easily placed without vibration or mechanical consolidation. The project was initiated to better understand how SCC performs in fresh and hardened states and to provide engineers involved in writing specifications and test procedures protocols and associated acceptance criteria to deliver successful SCC mixtures and construction practices that ensure acceptable material properties. This research project was conducted from July 2004 to June 2007. The extensive re-construction of I-74 through Peoria, IL underway during this timefr...
