Use of social media and its relationship to one\u27s identity

In this modern era, social media can now affect student\u27s identity. This thesis intends to understand how the use of social media affects a student\u27s identity development. 300 students were asked to answer an online survey for the quantitative study, along with five interviewees for the qualitative study. Results showed that there is a significant relationship between identity development and the use of social media. The correlation showed a p-level of 0.000, therefore leads to a posiitve correlation. Furthermore, the findings of the qualitative study showed that the factors that define identity are the perception, presentation and uniqueness of a student which is developed through the adaptability, growth, and influence. Lastly, social media platforms or websites a student may use would include Facebook, Twitter, You Tube and many more
