The study determines the strengths and weaknesses of the third year engineering students in the field of physics in terms of the cognitive skill levels and content areas. All data used in the study were taken from the achievement testings in the field of biology, chemistry and physics and mathematics conducted by the Philippine Science and Mathematics Council (PSMC) during the school years 1982-1983 and 1983-1984, with permission granted by the PSMC. The answer sheets in physics achievement test of third year engineering students were singled out for the study.
