United States Battleship Oregon On the Open Water

This color postcard features a white naval battleship out on the open water. Two golden colored funnels/stacks are in the center. One large mast is near the bow of the ship. One flag flies on the bow and a United States flag flies on the stern. The title along the top of the card reads U. S. Battleship Oregon Before Starting on her Famous Trip Around the Horn to John Shiley\u27s fleet at Santiago was painted with Carter pure white lead paint. The back of the postcard identifies the item as a postcard and provides indication for address and postage stamp placement. The description on the left of the card reads No paint is subjected to a more severe test than that used on battleships exposed to salt water, sun, wind and fogs.
