The historic design avant-garde of the 1910´s and 20´s in Germany developed a social attitude in architecture and interieur design connecting it to the upcoming mass culture. Thus functional objects and environment made apparent the basic process of industrial society. Modern post-war design related to this movement but at the same time failed to consider the current cultural transformation towards mass consumerism. And finally in so called postmodernism - under the premises of an event society - design ultimately lost its capacity to critically reflect these economic circumstances and changes.
