This presentation focuses on the research executed in the Cuenca basin in Southern Ecuador and its results. It illustrates the applicability of the relatively simple Topmodel as well as the importance of intensive, detailed monitoring of events for the understanding of the processes involved. Lastly, it provides information on the impact of several types of land use (e.g. pine plantations)
