The public notaries of Ciudad Real at the end of the Middle Ages. An approach through the ordinances of the brotherhood of the year 1489

In this study we carry out an approach to the situation of the public notaries of Ciudad Real (Spain) during the last decades of the 15th century. The context of the moment was characterized by a situation of overall crisis of the institution in Castile and a great reform promoted by the monarchy. This work is based on the Ordinances approved by the Catholics monarchs (1489) in order to create a corporation of notaries, as well as a several letters sent the monarchs to the council, which are kept in the Archivo General de Simancas. The analysis is structured in two major parts, the first one on organizational issues of the corporation and the other on the rules that regulated the work of notaries.En el presente estudio realizamos un acercamiento a la situación de los escribanos públicos de Ciudad Real (España) durante las últimas décadas del siglo XV. El contexto se caracterizaba por una situación de crisis general de la institución en Castilla y por una gran reforma promovida por la monar-quía. Este trabajo se fundamenta en las ordenanzas aprobadas por los Reyes Católicos en el año 1489 para crear una corporación de escribanos además de diversas cartas remitidas por los monarcas al con-cejo que se custodian en el Archivo General de Simancas. El análisis se estructura en dos grandes partes, la primera sobre cuestiones de organización de la corporación y otra segunda sobre las normas que regulaban el trabajo de los escribano
