A Study Of The Health Needs And Health Interests Of Fourth Grade Children

It is known to be a fact there has been a growing interest in the health needs and health interests of children. However, with his entrance into school, the child\u27s health needs immediately become a school and community responsibility along with the home. This responsibility does not all lie in the realm of a protective atmosphere but is also a part of education; whereby, the child becomes better prepared, through day-by-day improvement, for self-preservation. Much of his preparation along these lines, while in school, should come through instruction and participation in health. The Problem This study includes the possible sources of objective data to determine the health needs and health interests of fourth-grade elementary children of the Blackshear Elementary School, Austin, Texas. The study was conducted over a three-month interval and included iOO children of which 5^ were girls and 50 were boys. These health needs and health interests were discovered by a survey of the health status, health knowledges, health attitudes, health interests, and health practices of these fourth-grade children
