Alternativas de manejo en riego por surco para el cultivo de maíz (Zea mays L) en el Valle Inferior del Río Negro

Tesis para obtener el grado de Magister Scientiae en Riego y Drenaje, de la Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, en noviembre de 2020The lower Río Negro valley has 24000 hectares under irrigation, and more than 90% of them are developed under gravitational method. The objective of the study was to improve the efficiency of water use through the study of different furrow irrigation techniques and irrigation frequencies, and their relationship with the cultivation of corn (growth, development, efficiency in the use of water and productivity). The treatments were established through the irrigation frequency, the water distribution in the furrows and the timing of each irrigation event. The comparisons in the dynamics of the water under the criterion of irrigation performance (study of depth of water and efficiencies) allow to make suggestions under the assumption of taking replicas of tests to the farms of the valley. On the other hand, the incorporation of humidity sensors and simulation software are considered a contribution to the transition towards an agriculture that optimizes the use of the resources involved. The 8 treatments were established with two factors: irrigation techniques and frequencies. The technical factor presented 4 levels: Traditional furrow irrigation (RST), surge flow irrigation (RSP), Alternate furrow irrigation (RSA) and Alternate furrow irrigation doubling the flow rate (RSAD); and 2 levels for irrigation frequency, high frequency (AF), with average period between 10-day irrigation and low frequency (BF) with a period between 16-day irrigation. The set of irrigation events presented an average application efficiency (EA) of 63%, the global EA, that is, without considering the individual assessment of the risks, was 61%. Of the techniques under study, the RSA had an EA of 84%. The treatments that presented a balance between the water required and applied, were associated with the highest values of water use efficiency (EUA), water productivity (PA) and yield. The RSA technique presented the highest values of EUA, 2.3 kg.m-3, PA 2.9 kg.m-3 and grain yield 18900 kg.ha-1. The average grain yield was 16661 kg.ha-1, statistical differences were found according to the irrigation techniques, separating two groups, the RST and RSP techniques and, on the other hand, the Alternate irrigation techniques (RSA, RSAD), the latter presenting the highest yields. The greater weight of irrigation techniques was statistically evident over the irrigation frequencies studied. RSA allowed to increase the EUA 30% over the RST. A moderate reduction in irrigation water of 15% associated with BF, improved the EUA by 10% without diminishing the yield. The estimated average application efficiency estimated with the WinSRFR software, allowed to rise from 63% to 78% in general terms, through an increase in unit flow by 57% and a decrease in application time of 40%.El valle Inferior del río Negro presenta 24000 hectáreas bajo riego, más del 90% de las mismas se desarrollan por el método de riego gravitacional. El objetivo del estudio fue mejorar la eficiencia de uso del agua mediante el estudio de diferentes técnicas de riego por surco y frecuencias de riego, y su relación con el cultivo de maíz (crecimiento, desarrollo, eficiencia en el uso del agua y productividad). Los tratamientos se establecieron a través de la frecuencia de riego, la distribución del agua en los surcos y la continuidad temporal de cada evento de riego. Las comparaciones en la dinámica del agua bajo el criterio de desempeño de riego (estudio de láminas y eficiencias) permiten hacer sugerencias bajo el supuesto de llevar réplicas de ensayos a las chacras del valle. Por otro lado las incorporaciones de sensores de humedad y software de simulación se consideran un aporte para la transición hacia una agricultura que optimice el uso de los recursos involucrados. Los 8 tratamientos se establecieron con dos factores: técnicas y frecuencias de riego. El factor técnica presentó 4 niveles: riego por surco Tradicional (RST), riego por surco Discontinuo o por Pulsos (RSP), riego por surco Alterno (RSA) y riego por surcos Alterno duplicando el caudal (RSAD); y 2 niveles para frecuencia de riego, alta frecuencia (AF), con periodo medio entre riegos de 10 días y baja frecuencia (BF) con un período entre riegos de 16 días. El conjunto de eventos de riego presentó una eficiencia de aplicación (EA) promedio de 63%, la EA global, es decir sin considerar la evaluación individual de los riegos, fue de 61%. De las técnicas bajo estudio, el RSA se diferenció con un desempeño de 84%. Los tratamientos que presentaron una relación igualitaria entre la lámina infiltrada en el cuarto más perjudicado del surco y la lámina objetivo, se asociaron a los mayores valores de eficiencia en el uso del agua (EUA), productividad del agua (PA) y rendimiento. La técnica de RSA presentó los mayores valores de EUA, 2,3 kg.m-3 , de PA 2,9 kg.m-3 y de rendimiento de grano 18900 kg.ha-1. El rendimiento de grano promedio fue de 16661 kg.ha-1 , se encontraron diferencias estadísticas según las técnicas de riego, separando dos grupos, las técnicas de RST y RSP y por otro lado las técnicas de riego Alterno (RSA, RSAD), presentando estas últimas los mayores rendimientos. Se evidenció estadísticamente el mayor peso de las técnicas de riego por sobre las frecuencias de riego estudiadas. RSA permitió aumentar un 30% la EUA por sobre el RST. Una reducción moderada del agua de riego del 15% asociada a BF, mejoró la EUA en un 10 % sin disminuir el rendimiento. La eficiencia de aplicación media potencial estimada con el software WinSRFR, mejoró de 63% a 78% en términos generales, a través de un aumento del caudal unitario de 57% y una disminución en el tiempo de aplicación de 40%.EEA Valle InferiorFil: Neffen, Evelyn.
