L'artériopathie oblitérante des membres inférieurs est une maladie fréquente, causé par un rétrécissement athérosclérotique des artères, qui affecte 20% de la population de plus de 70 ans et dont la manifestation la plus fréquente est la claudication intermittente des membres inférieurs. La participation à un programme d'entrainement supervisé fait partie du traitement de base de la claudication intermittente en raison de bénéfices largement avérés.
